Chapter 10: “Take me away”
- - -
Morning soon arrived and Kyushu stood over the stove cooking breakfast. He set it out on the island, and walked to Aeris, shaking her gently, “Wake up.”
She stirred and opened her eyes, “What?”
He sighed and pointed to the table, which was practically loaded with food, “I slaved over a hot stove to make you breakfast.”
She smiled at him. "That's so sweet of you!" She said cheerfully, hugging him. Her ears twitched, and she hugged him a little tighter. She didn't know what to do. Why she was so scared to let go?
He smiled and hugged her in return, “You can let go now.”
“Right,” She laughed, releasing him and got to her feet. She scuffled over o the table, sat down and began to eat.
He smiled and walked to the seat across from her, sat and watched her.
She kept eating, and looked at him. "...?" She blinked, and offered some to him. "Want some?"
“No thanks.” He paused, “I already ate.”
"Oh..." she smiled sweetly at him, and went back to eating. Once she finished, she took the dishes to the sink, and set them in, then looked out in the window silently, her tail twitching.
He got up and looked at her, then out the window.
She looked at him. "How come they have not found you here Kyushu-kun?" She asked.
He though for a moment, then answered, “I’m not really sure why they haven’t found me yet,” He paused again, “Maybe because it’s in a large forest.”
"Will they take you away if they do find you?" She asked, the sun lighting her face a little bit. She rested her hands on the edge of the sink, keeping her eyes on the sky.
He averted his gaze from the window, looking at the floor, “Yes.”
"But...." she looked at him, "if they do find you, you will run...?" She walked over. "Do you still have that necklace I gave you?" She asked, tilting her head to the side, her ears twitching.
He nodded and held it out.
She smiled, then reached into her shirt and pulled out an almost identical one. "We both have them.....my mother gave them to me. She said they're suppose to protect each other....and when one feels pain so does the other....it's weird, but I believe it..." she looked up at him, her eyes glimmering. "I guess it's a way to keep in contact...? Silly, yeah..."
He shook his head, “It’s not silly at all.”
"Then what is it? It's a fantasy my mom told me to give me 'hope' or something of the sort..." she crossed her arms across her chest, looking down at her necklace.
"It may be a myth but," He paused, smiling, "If it gives you hope then believe in it."
"You give me hope," she said her thoughts aloud, smiling. She watched his cheeks flush and a smile creep onto his face. She then walked up to him, kissing his cheek, then passing him and going into the bedroom, closing the door behind her.
He stood there in silence.
Night had soon arrived and Aeris walked around the apartment quietly dressed in a short, yet flowey nightgown. Ears twitching, she looked for Kyushu. "Kyushu." She soon found him on the couch, asleep. She smiled and leaned against the back of the couch, peering at him with interest.
He yawned and opened his eyes. He yelped and found himself on the floor, "Hello to you too Aeris..."
She laughed, passing by him, giving him a slight panty flash. She knelt beside him, and leaned over his face, poking his nose.
He stuck out his tongue with each poke, "Bleh..."
She grinned, grabbing his tongue. "Cat's got your tongue." She laughed wickedly.
“Hot Hunny,” He snorted.
"Did you just call me a hot honey?" She laughed.
He rolled his eyes and gripped her hand, making her let go, “I said not funny.”
She pouted. "Aw....I thought it was..." she smiled meekly.
He laughed and poked her nose, “Hah.”
Her ears twitched again, and she giggled. "So...what do we do now?" She asked him.
He shrugged, “I don’t know.”
She paused, looking at him, then turning. "I'm going to..." she stopped again, "I don’t know what to do. There's nothing TO do...I can't go outside, those goons might show up..."
He sat in silence, listening
She looked back at him. "Is something wrong?" She asked.
He shook his head, “No.”
She looked at him, and saw a cloud shadow the window, and the reddening sun-set faded away. Her senses shot up, and she quickly looked around, her tail bushing up.
“What’s wrong?”
I just got a bad feeling," she said quietly, her tail going back to normal. She dashed into the bedroom, throwing on a pair of jean shorts, and running over to Kyushu. "I don't think we're alone at the moment..."
"I think you are right..."
Something outside the window peered in at them, and faded away.
She looked to the window, seeing a flash, then stepping back. "I think we should go."
He nodded and got to his feet. He gripped her hand lightly, and walked to the door, turned the handle and opened it.
There stood a figure with blood red eyes, glaring at them. The figure grinned, grabbing Kyu, causing Aeris to fall.
She yelped, rolling back, then landing on her feet and hissing. "Let him go!" She screeched, lunging and attacking the figure, clawing at him madly.
The figures eyes flashed and before she could reach him he threw Kyu at her. Kyu was really heavy.
Kyushu opened his eyes and whispered, "Syo..."
"S-Syo?" She grunted, crushed under him. She squirmed, freeing herself, and snarling at the figure. "Who are you?!" She demanded, moving over him protectively.
"No one you need to remember..." Syo whispered, looking at Kyushu. A small smile crept to his face as it began to downpour, "I wish to only talk with Kyushu and not harm you in the least..."
"If you lay one finger on him...." she hissed, and looked down at Kyushu. What do I do...?
Go inside...
Syo continued to smile, "I promise not to harm him." He had his fingers crossed.
She extended her claws. "I swear if you lay one finger on him, I'll kill you. And I won't hesitate..." she pulled back a little, then leaned down by Kyushu's face, whispering in his ear, "I'll be watching..." she squeezed his hand, then slinked inside, waiting
Syo smiled, "I see you found someone, Brother..."
"What do you want Syo..."
He cackled in a dark tone, "Think..."
Kyushu’s eyes glazed, "Will you leave Aeris alone if I turn myself over?"
He nodded, "I will promise. I will not lay a hand on her, Brother."
Droids came from nowhere, and took him away.
She listened, her ears bending back. Kyushu....
She heard the druids come, and she gasped, jumping up. "Kyushu!" She ran outside. "Where are you taking him! You gave me your word!” She turned to Syo, hissing angrily.
Syo looked over at her, "Calm down. He handed himself over to keep you safe."
"Where are you taking him? You promised!" She snarled at him, glaring daggers. "Bring him back here right now!!"
He looked away from her and plainly said, "I cannot..."
He then disappeared into the darkness.
"KYUSHU!" She screamed, and after where the druids had taken him. "I SWEAR TO GOD GIVE HIM BACK!”
